# Podcast It

> Podcast It is an iPhone and iPad app that turns a topic, a video, an image, or an audio clip into an AI-generated podcast episode with two hosts, a synced transcript, and cover art. People use it to learn languages, understand foreign-language videos, and get complex subjects explained. Listeners can pause on any line to ask the hosts a question.

## What it does

- Make an episode from a typed topic, or from a video or photo in the Photos library, or from an audio file in Files (up to 45 MB). A topic and media can be combined to steer the episode.
- Every episode has two voices, a Host and a Guest, a transcript that highlights each line as it is spoken, a summary, and AI-generated cover art.
- The script streams in as it is written. Episodes keep generating when the app is closed, and a notification arrives when one is ready.
- Episodes made from a video can open the original video at the moment the current line is about.
- Touch and hold any transcript line for: Ask the hosts (a typed question answered as a short spoken Host/Guest exchange, inserted where playback paused), Explain more, Save, and Regenerate speech at slow or normal speed.
- Episodes are private until shared. Sharing creates a public web link with the audio and transcript. Ask the hosts exchanges stay on the device and are never part of a shared link.

## Episode styles

- Explainer: the Host unpacks the subject step by step; the Guest asks a curious listener's questions and adds examples.
- Language lesson: the Host is a teacher speaking the podcast language; the Guest is a native speaker of the language being taught. Covers phrases, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and culture. Target-language text stays in its native script.
- Deep dive: two analysts cover causes, trade-offs, second-order effects, open questions, and disagreement.
- Interview: the Host asks short questions; the Guest answers as the expert.
- News brief: a dense bulletin covering what happened, why it matters, and what comes next.
- Storytelling: a narrated story with a clear arc; the Guest voices characters and quotes.

## Episode lengths

- Short: 3–5 minutes (1 credit)
- Standard: 8–12 minutes (2 credits)
- Long: 15–20 minutes (4 credits)

Episodes can be generated in 20 languages: English, Spanish (Español), French (Français), German (Deutsch), Arabic (العربية), Chinese Simplified (简体中文), Japanese (日本語), Korean (한국어), Portuguese (Português), Italian (Italiano), Russian (Русский), Turkish (Türkçe), Hindi (हिन्दी), Dutch (Nederlands), Polish (Polski), Swedish (Svenska), Indonesian (Bahasa Indonesia), Vietnamese (Tiếng Việt), Thai (ไทย), and Hebrew (עברית).

## Pricing (US dollars)

- Free: download is free and includes 2 credits, once.
- Basic: $7.99 per week, 15 credits each week.
- Pro: $19.99 per week, 60 credits each week.
- Ask the hosts, Explain more, and Regenerate speech are free and do not use credits.
- Credits do not roll over. The App Store shows local prices and handles billing and cancellation.

## Good fits

- Learning a language by listening to lessons built from real videos, photos of signs or menus, or any topic.

## Limitations

- iPhone and iPad only. There is no Android app and no web app for creating episodes; shared episode links play in any browser.
- Scripts, voices, and cover art are AI-generated and may contain mistakes.
